Recovery Coaching With Lisa Sue

Dear Friends,

If you answer “YES!” to any of these questions, you are in the right place!!!

  • Are you the Adult Child of an Alcoholic or do you come from a similarly difficult family history?
  • Have you been attending self help groups and/or therapy for a long time (maybe even decades) but feel just as bad or worse than when you began?
  • Are you preoccupied with hurts from long ago and/or estranged from family members?
  • Do you know that you have addiction problems but are afraid to address them? Or, if you are in addiction recovery, do you relapse often?
  • Are you obese and/or do you have uncontrollable cravings for sugar and carbohydrates?
  • Is your mind “all over the place”?
  • Do you worry about whether or not your children like you?

Did you answer “yes” to any of these questions?  Please read on!

Why ACOA Recovery Coaching?

You are in the right place!  If you are the Adult Child of an Alcoholic or come from a similarly difficult family history, the issues that you are working through are unique and can be especially challenging. Perhaps you have spent years, even decades in therapy and still don’t feel better — you may actually feel much worse than when you first sought help! If you have been stuck for a long time, this is because continually discussing the past actually reactivates and reinforces the pain and anger that we are trying to let go of. It also has to do with the fact that not everyone understands the unique experience that you have been through. I do.  I can help you understand what has happened to you and how it is impacting you today. More importantly, I can help you finally feel the relief that you have needed for a long time.

The recovery movement for Adult Children of Alcoholics was born in the living room of my childhood home over forty years ago, because of my mother’s deep concern for me and my brothers. After years of living with my father’s alcoholism, it became clear to her that her children would be impacted by this experience all through our lives unless we got the right help. She knew that we were not the only family suffering. We began to reach out to families like yours and mine and helping others heal from this trauma became our life’s work.  In 1987, mom’s books “Adult Children of Alcoholics” and “Struggle For Intimacy” became international best sellers which helped millions of people understand their experience and move forward. I have picked up where she left off with “Unwelcome Inheritance: Break Your Family’s Cycle of Addictive Behaviors” and this coaching practice.

Are you ready to let go? You will be amazed at how quickly you will feel relief and how the pain of your past can be used to empower you and propel you forward!

ACoA Recovery Coaching is a collaborative effort between us where we uncover your “stuck places” and goals, plan your steps in getting you there, resolve obstacles, and together help you move forward through that process.  We heal the past by claiming the future that we want.  In this way, you can resolve your feelings without staying in the story of how you were hurt. As Dr. Jan said, her work with ACoAs began because:

“I took back my power

and I took back my energy.

And I put them into the things

that I am passionate about.”
